Cyber-Defense - detailed

Timeframe: Cyber-defense is a growing concern with an ongoing timeframe.

Taking: Assuring our cyber-defense incorporates multiple tasking. This includes counterintelligence (CI), covert operations (CO), collection, analysis, and reporting.

Standard of performance: Cyber-defense can be bolstered through counterintelligence to assure a secure cyber protection. An analysis ought to be conducted to assess current security features’ effectiveness. Given its vulnerability and status, collateral damage must not infringe on the economy. Resulting blowback, however, is extraneous because of the lack of attention and being unnecessary for social society.

Oversight: The Senate’s role should include oversight by reviewing methods of conviction for cyber-crimes and reviewing resulting analysis.

Jurisdiction: The jurisdiction for cyber-defense falls to the CIA for incriminating foreign perpetrators, DHS for analyzing governmental cyber networks, DoD, in conjunction with the DIA, for analyzing defense networks, and the FBI for incriminating domestic cybercriminals.

Priority: This is listed as my fifth priority because of the national security and counterterrorism implications associated with cybercrime and its counterpart – cyber-defense. It is consider a high priority because of potential short term impact.
