Timeframe: Space defense is a growing concern with a long term timeframe.
Taking: Investigating a space defense system requires multiple tasking. This includes counterintelligence (CI), propaganda, collection, analysis, and reporting.
Standard of performance: CI should be used to maintain a secure defense infrastructure – space-based and earth-based. Domestic propaganda should be used to rally support for a space defense system. International propaganda should also be used to stifle a potential scare - and potential space defense race - associated with the infrastructure. An analysis should also review the international political atmosphere toward incorporating the technology and a cost-benefit review. Collateral damage should not jeopardize political tranquility, and blowback should be minimal to avoid attention.
Oversight: The Senate should review reports of political cost of incorporating a space defense system. Additional review should be given to the usage of propaganda.
Jurisdiction: Jurisdiction for a space-based defense system falls to the DHS for analyzing the cost-benefit data and disseminating domestic propaganda, DIA for analyzing national security from the military perspective, FBI to monitor security through CI, and Department of State for disseminating international propaganda.
Priority: This is listed as my eighth priority because of the national security implications associated with space defense. It is consider a elevated priority because of long term concerns.
